Study nursing at JCC
The Nursing degree at Jamestown Community College prepares you to become a registered nurse. You can pursue careers in patient care, emotional support, and education. Registered nurses work in hospitals, physician’s offices, home healthcare services, outpatient clinics, schools, hospice care, rehabilitation facilities, and travel nursing nationally and internationally.
- At JCC, you'll be prepared to take the National Council of State Boards for Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN).
- JCC's program focuses on the National League for Nursing (NLN) Association Degree (AD) competencies and Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) competencies.
- Nursing faculty are experts in their field, and many are clinical instructors who work with students in the healthcare agencies.
The Nursing program is designed for full- or part-time study and may be completed in a minimum of two academic years of full-time study. The four-semester sequence of nursing courses, which begins each fall semester, must be completed sequentially. Students who desire part-time study may complete the general degree requirements before seeking admission to the program.
2023 median pay for registered nurses: $86,070/year according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics
Application process

Licensure
Successful completion of Jamestown Community College’s A.A.S. program in Nursing is sufficient for meeting the educational requirements for licensure or certification in New York and Pennsylvania as a Nurse. Successful completion of the program may also be sufficient for meeting the educational requirements for licensure or certification in other states, but this has not been determined by Jamestown Community College. Enrolled students and prospective students are strongly encouraged to contact their states’ certification entity to review all licensure and certification requirements imposed by that state. As there are many state and other jurisdictions, each with its own requirements, students should consult the http://www.ncsbn.org/about/contact.page, which is a centralized source for information about Nursing licensure criteria.
